Billions FAQs

Getting started
What is Billions Network?

Billions is a secure identity platform that allows both humans and AI to prove who they are online without revealing personal data. We use advanced privacy technology called Zero-Knowledge (ZK) Proofs to give users complete control. For a simple explanation, watch this video on how ZK Proofs work. 🎥

Why should I trust Billions?

Our team has decades of experience in identity and cryptography. We're trusted by a network of over 2 million users and backed by đź’° $30M+ from industry leaders like Coinbase Ventures and Polychain. Billions is led by Evin McMullen, CEO & Co-Founder.

To learn more about Billions’ vision and evolution, listen to this recent **ZK Podcast on the evolution of Billions** featuring insights from the founding team. 🎙️

How do I join the Billions Network?

Getting started is simple! Create your profile to unlock private verification and community participation! To earn rewards for verifying your identity and completing community building events, you can visit in our official Registration Portal.

How do I create and access my identity wallet on Billions Network?

The Billions experience is designed to be simple, secure, and provide user controlled digital identity. Your private keys stay with you, Billions doesn’t hold your keys. You can create and access your identity through both mobile and web platforms:

  • 📱 On Mobile: Download the Billions app to set up your secure account, complete verification, and explore your digital identity — all within minutes. Get started on Google Play (Android) or App Store (iOS).
  • đź’» On Web: Prefer the browser experience? Use the **Billions Web Wallet** to manage your identity, connect to (future) apps, and control your verifications.
Why do you have two products?

The registration portal is designed to reward our community, while the identity wallet is where all your identity information is stored and managed (which is not a custodial asset service).

In the future, we will merge both products , so we recommend that you use the same account across both products

ID verification and digital ID
What is a Billions Credential?

A credential is a verifiable, privacy-preserving digital certificate issued to your digital identity. Billions offers different types of credentials based on the level of verification you complete. Each one enables you to prove specific attributes about yourself using cryptography (ZK proofs), without exposing unnecessary personal data. âś…

What are the different types of credentials?

We offer several credentials, each representing a different level of verification:

  • Human Credential 🧑: This is our foundational credential. You can claim it by successfully completing a liveness check by performing a face scan, which proves you are a real person.
  • Verified Human Credential 🛂: This is a higher-level credential issued after self-verification with government issued document, such as an NFC-enabled passport (or an Aadhaar card).
  • Uniqueness Credential ✨: This is a special biometric credential based on your facial uniqueness which can be claimed by performing a face scan. It is not natively available in the Billions Wallet and can only be obtained and used through specific partner campaigns for airdrop registrations (follow our social accounts for more information on upcoming campaigns).
What is Credential Verification?

Verification is the process where a service (like an app) checks a proof generated from your credential. It confirms that your credential is:

  • Valid – Issued by a trusted source.
  • Unaltered – The data hasn’t been tampered with.
  • Sufficient – It meets the service's requirement (e.g., "Is this user a unique human?").

Verification is always initiated and controlled by the user from their device. We use  ZK proofs to guarantee that verification never exposes the underlying credential or link user behavior across Apps or Services.

When will more government IDs be supported?

Billions Network is working on adding more government identity options. We will notify everyone via the app and our official X and Discord accounts.

What happens if a credential is deleted?

If you delete your Human Credential, you can complete the liveness check (face scan) to claim the credential again.

⚠️ Deletion is intended to be permanent to protect network integrity; appeals and error-recovery are available through support, subject to strict verification. Completing document or face verification again will not result in issuing credentials. Each person can get these credentials only once, one through document verification (for Verified Human) and one through face verification (for Uniqueness).

This safeguard ensures that every identity on Billions remains genuinely unique, protecting the network’s trust, privacy, and security.

What should I do if my credential expires?

You can easily refresh an expired Human Credential directly in the Wallet. Just open the credential, tap the “Refresh” 🔄 option, and follow the on-screen steps to re-verify.

Official Profiles

What are Official Profiles?

Official Profiles are portable, privacy‑preserving identities you can share across apps and websites like X, Telegram, or Discord so people can immediately see they are dealing with the real you, not a bot or scammer!

Why should I get an Official Profile?

Cybercrime is exploding — global cybercrime is projected to cost [10.5 trillion dollars https://www.weforum.org/stories/2025/01/how-ai-driven-fraud-challenges-the-global-economy-and-ways-to-combat-it/] this year alone. Official Profiles let you prove who you are once and then reuse that private, secure identity in any context, so people can quickly tell you are genuine and not an AI‑generated fake

Why do you have three badges?

Official Profiles have three badges that give different levels of trust and benefits:

  • Basic (free) – proves you are a unique human.
  • Verified (free) – adds stronger, ID‑document‑based identity using supported government IDs such as NFC enabled passports [Aadhaar https://uidai.gov.in/en/]
  • Premium (paid) – unlocks exclusive benefits and usernames starting in 2026.
Why should I buy the Premium Badge?

The Premium Badge gives you the highest level of trust and upside. It:

  • Lets you join the referral program and earn USDT & Power when people you invite buy a Premium voucher
  • Unlocks exclusive usernames and premium benefits that will keep expanding over time.
  • *For a limited time,* lets you buy discounted Premium vouchers which you can redeem on your own account or gift to family, friends, or teammates that you want protected from scammers
Can I use Official Profiles without purchasing a voucher?

Yes. The Basic and Verified badge are free and lets you create an Official Profile and access basic features without any cost or subscription commitment

How is my privacy protected?

Billions protects your privacy using [Zero-Knowledge Proofs](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero-knowledge_proof), so your personal information is never shared without your permission and you remain in control at all times

How do I get the Basic badge?

You get the Basic badge by verifying your email and completing a quick uniqueness check on mobile. Once that is done, your Official Profile is created and you can start sharing it anywhere online!

What payment methods do you accept for Premium vouchers?

Right now Premium vouchers can be purchased only with stablecoins, using USDT or USDC on Polygon through our embedded, non‑custodial checkout flow

When can I withdraw my USDT rewards?

You will be able to withdraw

Do Premium vouchers auto‑renew?

No. 1‑year and 6‑year Premium vouchers are fixed‑term and do not auto‑renew. Your Premium Badge simply ends when the voucher period expires. If you want to keep Premium, you can purchase or redeem another voucher.

Human credentials

Verified human credential (Passport)

How do I know if my passport is NFC-enabled?

Look for the official biometric passport logo (a small rectangle with a circle in the middle: 🛂) on the front cover of your passport. Only passports with this logo contain an NFC chip and are supported.

What are the best practices for a successful scan?

âś… For the best results, always:

  • Use the latest version of the Billions app.
  • Remove any phone cases, wallet sleeves, or passport covers.
  • Ensure you are in a well-lit environment with a neutral background.
  • Hold your phone and passport completely still during the scan.
  • Disable Airplane Mode, as it can interfere with NFC.
I'm getting an 'NFC scan already running' message. What should I do?

This means a previous scan hasn't finished. Hold your phone completely still on the passport to allow it to complete. If it persists, wait a few moments before trying again.

It says 'NFC chip not enabled.' How do I fix this?

Your phone has NFC, but it's turned off. Go to your phone’s Settings → Connections → NFC and turn it on. Then, restart the app and try again.

What if my phone says 'NFC not supported'?

This message means your phone does not have a built-in NFC chip. You will need to use a different device with NFC capability to complete the verification.

I'm seeing an 'NFC timeout error' or 'NFC tag was lost.' What's wrong?

This means your phone lost connection with the passport's chip, usually because of movement. Place the passport on a flat surface and hold your phone perfectly still on top of it during the entire scan.

My passport's 'Issuing Country is not listed.' Can I still use it?

Unfortunately, no. This means we do not yet support passports from that specific country.

As Billions is incorporated in Europe, we are required to comply with EU sanctions and export control regulations. The following countries are currently under comprehensive EU sanctions, and we cannot allow users from these regions to upload passports or receive credentials:

Myanmar, Belarus, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, and Syria.

We’re continuously expanding support for more countries as global regulations evolve.

The app says my 'Passport is already used.' What should I do?

Each Passport can only be registered with only one Billions account. This message means you have already verified with this Passport. Please log in with your original account

Aadhaar Verification

Which Aadhaar QR code should I use?

You must use the official digital QR code downloaded directly from the mAadhaar app or the official UIDAI website. QR codes from physical cards or third-party apps like DigiLocker will not work.

What are the best practices for a successful scan?

âś… For the best results, always:

  • Use the latest version of the Billions app.
  • Ensure you are in a well-lit environment with a neutral background.
  • Make sure you are using the correct Aadhaar QR code.
It says 'Wrong Aadhaar QR code scanned' or 'No iden3 message found.'

This happens when you scan an incorrect or unsupported QR code. Please ensure you are using the correct digital QR and that you start the process from within the Billions app's verification flow, not by scanning the QR directly.

I'm getting an 'Aadhaar circuits not found' error.

This indicates that the necessary verification files didn't download correctly. Please connect to a strong, stable internet connection and try reinstalling or updating the Billions app.

The app says my 'Aadhaar QR is already used.'

Each Aadhaar QR code can only be registered with one Billions account. This message means you have already verified with this Aadhaar. Please log in with your original account.

Billions wallet and account
What can I do if the app keeps crashing?

This is often a device or OS issue. Please ensure you have updated to the latest version of the Billions app. If it persists, contact our support team with your device model and OS details.

The app store says my device is 'non-compatible'. Why?

App requirements can change with updates. It's possible your device's operating system no longer meets the minimum requirements. Please try using a different compatible device which meets the following:

Android — Minimum Android 8.0 (SDK 26), that supports arm64-v8a and x86_64 architectures.

iOS — Minimum iOS 15.6 is supported.

I'm seeing a 'reCAPTCHA error' when signing in with Google.

This is usually a browser issue. Try these steps:

  • Clear your browser's cache and cookies.
  • Temporarily disable extensions like ad blockers.
  • Switch to a different network (e.g., use mobile data instead of Wi-Fi).
The app says my 'Account has been deleted.'

This means the account you are trying to access was previously deleted and cannot be used again. Please create a new account to continue.

Please note that this will only delete your pre-registration portal account not your identity wallet. However, if you download the Billions mobile app you can delete your credentials. We are merging both products in the next few weeks where you be able to manage account deletion in one place. So we recommend that you wait before taking any actions.

How can I recover a deleted account?

If your account was deleted within the last 30 days, we might be able to help. Email hello@billions.network from the address linked to the account with the subject line: "Recover My Account".

Security and privacy
How is my personal information stored and protected?

Your personal information, such as passport scans, is stored in fully encrypted storage. All your credentials are securely encrypted and linked to your identity wallet — accessible only by you. We use Zero-Knowledge (ZK) Proofs to verify your identity without ever seeing, storing, or sharing your private data.

What happens to my credentials if I delete the app?

Nothing! Deleting the app does not erase your credentials, as long as you haven't deleted your account. When you reinstall the app and sign in with the same account you used before, your credentials will be automatically restored from encrypted storage.

What should I do if my crypto wallet is compromised?

⚠️ If you signed in to Billions using a crypto wallet and that wallet has been compromised, your immediate priority should be to regain control of it. Recover your wallet using its official recovery method (such as your Secret Recovery Phrase) and follow the security guidelines provided by your wallet provider. Once your wallet is restored, you can log back into Billions using the same wallet. Your credentials will remain accessible, as they’re securely linked to your wallet’s cryptographic keys. However, if you’re unable to regain access to your compromised wallet, your Billions account and credentials will also be lost permanently, just as funds would be in a compromised crypto wallet.

How can I avoid scams?

The Billions team will đźš« NEVER đźš« ask for your password, seed phrase, or other sensitive information in DMs or unofficial channels. Always verify you are speaking with official team members in our Discord.
